Your Engagement Photoshoot Guide

An engagement photoshoot is an opportunity to capture some beautiful photos of you and your partner. It’s also a great practice run for your wedding day and a chance to get out all of those nervous camera jitters. Many couples tell me afterwards they they then feel more relaxed and confident about their photography on their wedding day. But just to help you out even more, here are some tips to help you feel photo ready!

Pick the Perfect Engagement Photoshoot Location

I always recommend that the location should be somewhere that means something to the two of you. Maybe it’s somewhere that you like to visit together, the picnic place you loved or the location of your proposal. If you are stuck for ideas I can recommend a huge range of locations in Victoria that make for stunning backdrops for your engagement photoshoot. But it’s always great if it’s somewhere that means something to you as it will make your pictures even more memorable.

Clothing Advice for your Engagement Photoshoot

Most importantly, choose an outfit that you are comfortable in and that suits the location. If your photoshoot is along the coastline, you’re better off going for a flowing dress and hair down. Whilst a shoot in a Melbourne laneway would suit a more tailored and sleek outfit.

I always tend to prefer more neutral shades as I think these colours look lovely in photographs. Think about the textures too and how they go together. At the end of the day your outfit choice is entirely up to you so wear whatever feels like you!

Remember To Have Fun!

I’m all about capturing candid moments between the two of you. However I’ll step in and give you guidance when needed. I’ll make sure the light is perfect, the background is to die for and you’re both feeling comfortable to be free in front of the camera. Sometimes I’ll ask you to look at the camera but for the most part, you can relax and enjoy the moment. It really will get easier as your engagement photoshoot goes on! I would love to chat to you about planning your engagement shoot because there’s only so much reading you can do! Contact me here to book in your engagement photoshoot.
